The end for Belleluia

It's the end of the road for The Thoroughbred Magazine Club's filly Belleluia.

Veterinary advice is that if the filly is to continue to race, she will require an arthroscope to remove the bone chip in her off foreleg.

We feel it is in the best interests of Belleluia that decisions on her future should be in the hands of her owner, Eliza Park Stud, so we have relinquished our lease on the filly.

Belleluia, a winning three-quarter sister to the star filly Black Caviar, is a very valuable filly and Eliza Park has the option to perform the operation and race on with her or retire her before the 2010 breeding season.

We wish to thank everyone at Eliza Park, particularly proprietor Lee Fleming and chief executive Cameron Croucher, for the opportunity to race Belleluia.

The Belleluia experience has allowed many readers of The Thoroughbred magazine to enjoy the thrills, the behind-the-scene action and the highs and lows of owning a racehorse. We especially thank trainer Robbie Griffiths for his patience and skill in getting the best out of Belleluia in her short career, and also pre-trainer Sue Ellis, at Eliza Park, for her efforts to try to get the filly back to the racetrack.

It's a shame that we haven't seen the best of this talented filly, but as "they" say - that's racing.

We look forward to following the fortunes of Belleluia's foals as she embarks on her new career as a mum.
