Horse's teeth continue to errupt during most of it's life, replacing dental material worn away by the process of chewing. Horses have an incomplete bite and by chewing on grass, hay or grain various amounts of wear occurs. The outside edges of the upper molar and the inner edges of the lower molars are never worn. Sharp points develop on these molars causing ulcers in the cheek tissue and discomfort to the tongue. By correctly filing these sharp edges you can improve the feed grinding effeceincy of your horse's mouth. Abnormal wear pattern can also be managed by regular maintenance programs.
